Photographer two - Marina Koslow

I have chosen this photographer because I like the individual composition of photos and the simple yet delicate and intricate detail in each photograph. Each photo has an individual way of telling the Alice in wonderland story whilst also being an attractive photograph.

This photograph from the Alice in wonderland inspired shoot is very simple in the layout and content yet the detail on both the teacup and the table cloth makes the photograph more interesting. The cup is placed central so is the main focus of the photo yet the faint detail in the table cloth slightly draws your eye away and makes the photo more interesting. One way that the photo could be interpreted is that the intricate detail and delicacy is representing Alice's character as well as being a teacup a common prop in the story.

I really like this photograph which is also from the Alice in wonderland inspired shoot because the focus is on the tray of the delicate tea set which is placed centrally. The fact that the models face cannot be seen in the photo make it quite mysterious and allows the audience to come up with their own character for the image while still picturing a character similar to the traditional Alice due to the costume and the hair. I think the fact that the models face is cut of is another unique feature used by this photographer which I would like to use in my photography.

Once again this photograph is very simple yet the detail and composition makes the photo more interesting. Because the cups are different sizes and are sitting into each other this could represent the different and unique characters in the story of Alice in wonderland. The focus in the photo is in the very centre of the cups where the detail is but also mostly on the top cup, this makes this the main focus of the photograph.

Once again this photograph from the Alice in wonderland inspired shoot takes the obvious Alice in wonderland prop of the tea set and the blond girl with the dress in order to tell the story. The model is blurred out however she does still seem to be a focus of the photograph although the actual focus is on the tea set and the tea pot in particular.

Influence

I would like to take influence from this photographer and use it in my own photography. I would like to try and not have the models face in the photo to prevent any facial features of expression from the model changing the meaning of the photograph. I would also like to photograph a tea set as it makes attractive and interesting photographs while telling the story of Alice in wonderland.

Summary

Overall this photographer has used simple yet detailed props and costumes from the book in order to create scenes that tell the story. The photographer has put focus on the thing that she wants to be the main focus and what is most important to the photograph.
